Today, the KBC Environment includes all departments located within the KBC building and affiliated departments at other locations on the Umeå Campus. It also includes research centres, research units, and centres of excellence at Umeå University (UMU) and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). Three faculties and two universities are represented in KBC. From the Faculty of Science and Technology, UMU, the participating departments are the departments of Chemistry, Physics, Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Plant Physiology, and Thermochemical Energy Conversion Laboratory (TEC-Lab, a part of the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics). From the Faculty of Medicine - the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics.
